The three checks CRM-NG SMTP adds to WordPress Site Health, what each result means, and how to fix a warning.

WordPress has a built-in health report at Tools → Site Health. CRM-NG SMTP adds three checks to it, plus a section of details on the Info tab. This article explains each check and what to do when it is not green. It is for administrators.

Where to find them

Go to Tools → Site Health. The Status tab groups results into critical issues, recommended improvements and passed tests. CRM-NG SMTP's results carry a CRM-NG SMTP badge. Expand any result to read the explanation and the action link.

Check 1: Is CRM-NG SMTP mailer setup complete?

This checks that a real mailer is chosen and that its required fields are filled in.

Result Meaning
CRM-NG SMTP mailer setup is complete (passed) A mailer is configured. The result suggests sending a test email to be sure it works.
CRM-NG SMTP mailer setup is incomplete (recommended improvement) Either Default (none) is still selected ("which means that you haven't set up SMTP yet"), or a required field for your mailer is empty.

To fix an incomplete setup:

  1. Open the settings

Click Configure mailer in the result, or go to CRM-NG SMTP → Settings → General.

  2. Pick and complete a mailer

Choose your mail service and fill in every field it asks for. See Setting up CRM-NG SMTP in five minutes.

  3. Save and test

Click Save Settings, then send a test from CRM-NG SMTP → Tools → Email Test.

A complete setup only means the fields are filled in. It does not prove your key or password is right. Only a test email proves that.

Check 2: Do CRM-NG SMTP DB tables exist?

CRM-NG SMTP stores some data, such as debug events and queued emails, in its own database tables. This check confirms they exist.

Result Meaning
CRM-NG SMTP DB tables are created (passed) All tables are present.
CRM-NG SMTP DB tables check has failed (critical) One or more tables are missing. Debug events, the queue and related features cannot work.

To fix a failed check:

  1. Use the link

In the expanded result, click create the missing DB tables by clicking on this link.

  2. Re-run Site Health

Reload Tools → Site Health. The check should now pass.

  3. If it still fails

Your database user may lack permission to create tables, or the database may be full. Ask your host to check, then contact our support with the error message.

Tables usually go missing after a partial site migration, a database restore that skipped some tables, or a host that blocks table creation.

Check 3: Is email domain configured properly?

This runs the same DNS check as a test email, for the domain of your From Email (or, for Mailgun, Brevo and SendGrid, the sending domain you entered for that mailer).

Result Meaning
Email domain is configured correctly (passed) "All checks for your email domain were successful." An SPF record that includes your mailer, and a DMARC record, were found.
Email domain issues detected (recommended improvement) Something is missing. The result lists each issue, such as "No SPF record was found for …" or "No DMARC record was found."

To fix domain issues, add or correct the records listed. See Adding DNS records: SPF, DKIM and DMARC, then Verifying your DNS records. DNS changes can take a while to spread, so a warning can linger for up to a day after a correct fix.

This check looks at SPF and DMARC only. It does not check DKIM, because every provider uses its own record name. Check DKIM in a real message's headers.

The Info tab

On Tools → Site Health → Info, expand CRM-NG SMTP. It lists:

  • Version — the installed plugin version.
  • Current mailer — the mailer in use, or None selected.
  • Debug — recent debug notices, or "No debug notices found."
  • DB tables — the plugin's tables, or "No DB tables found."
  • The date the plugin was first installed.

This section is handy when you ask for help. WordPress's Copy site info to clipboard button on the same tab copies it with your PHP and WordPress versions, ready to paste into a support request. Check the copied text before you send it.
