Error: Account not verified (SendLayer)
SendLayer will not send until your account is verified. Confirm your email address and finish any account review SendLayer asks for.
This article is for sites using the SendLayer mailer where a send fails with a message saying the account is not verified.
The error as you see it
Account not verified (SendLayer may phrase it as "Your account is not verified" or ask you to complete verification)
Shown by the SendLayer mailer, in the failed-send banner, in Tools → Debug Events and in the Email Log.
What this error means
Your API Key is valid and SendLayer knows your account, but the account has not finished SendLayer's sign-up checks. Like most mail services, SendLayer protects its reputation by confirming who new customers are before letting them send to the public. Until that is done, sending through the API is refused.
Common causes
- The confirmation email was never opened. SendLayer emails a link to the address you signed up with.
- The account is awaiting manual review. New accounts, or accounts with unusual activity, can be reviewed by SendLayer staff, who may ask questions about your site and mailing practices.
- Billing details were not completed during sign-up, so the account is not active yet.
- The API key belongs to a different, unverified account than the one you checked.
How to fix
- Find the confirmation email
Search the inbox you signed up with (and its spam folder) for a message from SendLayer and follow the confirmation link.
- Sign in to SendLayer
Go to
https://app.sendlayer.com/and look for a banner or notice about verification or review on the dashboard. Complete every item it lists. - Answer any review request
If SendLayer support has emailed you, reply with the details asked for (what your site sends, where addresses come from). Accounts under review start sending once support approves them.
- Confirm the API key's account
In the SendLayer dashboard, open the API keys page (in the account settings) and check that the key shown there is the one in the plugin.
- Save the key if needed
In CRM-NG SMTP → Settings → General, with SendLayer selected, use Remove API Key, paste the correct key into API Key, and press Save Settings.
- Send a test
Go to CRM-NG SMTP → Tools → Email Test, fill in Send To and press Send Email.
Verify it worked
The test page shows "Test email sent successfully! Check your inbox to confirm delivery." In SendLayer, the email appears in the dashboard's email activity list.
Notes
- CRM-NG SMTP connects to SendLayer with an API key only; there is no Quick Connect.
- An account can be verified while its sending domain is not. If the error changes to a domain message, see Domain is not activated.
